A scene from the Alfa episode.

What a great story...

On the way back from a week-long business trip in Virginia (on a very L-O-N-G plane ride) I watched an episode of Victory by Design on DVD. This is a great series in which an ex-race car driver, Alain de Cadenet, drives and discusses the history of race cars from certain manufacturers.

Every time I watch one, I really get the urge to drive. So on Saturday morning, I took my MR2 for a nice ride and wound up at Autobooks, a great book store in Burbank devoted to automotive publications.

While I was looking around, I heard a familiar voice behind me, turned around, and almost fell on the floor. There was Alain talking to the owner. When they were done, I asked if he would mind posing for a picture with me and he was very cordial. He told me he lives in London but visits LA quite often.

This is the same store where I ran into Jay Leno a while back.
